The generic name of this medicine is Acalabrutinib. This is used for the treatment of certain cancer type (MCL or mantle cell lymphoma). This can only be used when other treatments used were ineffective. Once used, it will slow down or stop cancer cells growth. The classification of the drug is kinase inhibitors.
Ways of Usage
Before taking the medicine, it is best to read first the leaflet enclosed with the medicine. Should you have further concern, it is recommended to ask questions of the physician or pharmacist.
This medicine needs to be taken orally with or without food or exactly how the doctor instructed to do so. It may be taken twice each day with 12 hours interval. It is not recommended to chew or break the capsule at it needs to be completely swallowed and followed by a glass of water.
While this is being taken, grapefruit should be avoided. Consumption of such may increase the risk of experiencing its side effects.
It is not advisable to increase or decrease the dosage of this drug. Similarly, it is not recommended for long-term use. This will not help in making you feel better quicker yet it will only put you at high risk of developing serious side effects.
A patient may experience nausea, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, and tiredness. If any of such gets worse, contact the doctor immediately.
The doctor also needs to know about any serious side effects of unusual bruising, tiredness or bleeding, bloody stools, heart problems, dizziness, difficulty in breathing and chest discomfort. Any signs of infections should also be reported to the doctor including a cough, sore throat, chills and fever.
