The cancer of plasma cells is called multiple myeloma. In the bone marrow, you can find the normal plasma cells. This is a vital part of the immune system. Take into account that the immune system is composed of different cells that work together to prevent diseases and fight infections.

Once the plasma cells are cancerous and it grows out of control, the disease happens. These cells can make abnormal protein or antibody called by different terms like M-spike, monoclonal immunoglobulin, and M-protein.

What can the disease do?

Low blood counts: this can lead to anemia, leukopenia, and low blood platelet as well.

Problems in the bones and calcium: the myeloma cells can contradict with the cells that can keep the bones strong and healthy.

Kidney issues: myeloma cells likewise harm the kidney which can cause kidney damage or even failure.

Infections: the abnormal plasma cells no longer do its function of protecting the body from infections.

    Multiple myeloma is a cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell called a plasma cell. It causes cancer cells to accumulate in the bone marrow, where they crowd out healthy blood cells.
