Psychopathy is a mental illness or a personality disorder characterized by antisocial behavior, lack of empathy and remorse, and disinhibited, bold, and egotistical attitude. This illness is often considered synonymous with sociopathy, but they’re two different mental states.
Causes may include early life factors, as well as genetics. Signs and symptoms that someone might be a psychopath are usually noticeable before a person’s 16th birthday.
No one is exactly sure what causes psychopathy, but it is probably a mixture of genetics, environmental factors, and bad parenting techniques. Children of psychopaths are more likely to become ones as well, suggesting genetic influence.
Being a bad parent might put your children at risk f becoming psychopaths. If a parent abuses drugs and alcohol, neglects or punishes a child instead of rewarding them, or abandons a child at a young age, this can all lead to developing a psychopathic disorder, but it doesn’t have to be a case.
