The generic name of Cosentyx is Secukinumab. The medicine is used for plaque psoriasis and some types of arthritis treatment. The arthritis of the spine and psoriatic type are some of its type that can be treated. The drug belongs to the monoclonal antibodies class. The action of the drug is to block the body’s natural protein which can lead to swelling and inflammation.

The medicine is injected under the skin. Doctor’s direction must be followed. It needs to be injected into the thighs, abdomen or upper thigh. If injected in the abdomen, it needs to be at least 2 inches from the belly button. Dosing will depend on the patient’s medical condition and how they respond or react towards the treatment.
Among the common side effect is diarrhea. Once it worsens or persists, the doctor needs to be informed immediately.
Using this medicine can also weaken the immunity. Hence, you might be at risk to acquire a serious infection or existing ones may worsen. Any signs of infection like fever, sore throat (persistent), chills, cough.
