The disease called sever’s disease is also called calcaneal apophysitis. This condition is often associated with heel pain experienced by adolescents and growing children too. This is when there is a growth plate inflammation in the heel.
When there is repetitive stress to the heel and happens when the muscles, bones, tendons and other structures are quickly changing during the growth spurts.
Most cases, the disease can be managed through resting, OTC medication, stretching, footwear change and strengthening exercise. This can help manage the pain that can allow daily activities return.
